As Communications Lead for the City of Asheville’s $225 million Community Development Block Grant - Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) Program in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, I was embedded on the City’s Communication and Public Engagement (CAPE) Team. In this role, I:

• Led strategic communications, ensuring compliance with federal requirements.

• Developed leadership briefings and messaging to translate complex policies into accessible communications.

• Wrote and edited digital content, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and quality control.

• Managed editorial calendars and digital content workflows across content management systems (CMS), email, and social platforms while analyzing engagement data to refine outreach strategy.

• Designed one-pagers, presentations, and outreach materials to support public engagement and internal and external stakeholder communications.

• Collaborated with City staff on outreach events, and drafted comprehensive communications plans.

• Supported the approval of the City’s Action Plan by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
